For young and older actors who are trying to land their first movie role, whether it is a huge part, or a minor character, you have to nail your movie auditions the first time you go in for the reading of the script. You have to sell yourself, sell the character you are auditioning for, and show that you can connect with all of the other actors that are playing a role in the film that you are going in for an audition for.

Know your character: Depending on the role you want to play, you have to have some type of connection with the character. You have to know how they would act, feel, and speak in certain instances. You must sell yourself as the actual character, and you have to make the audience believe you are really that person, and that you feel the lines you are speaking each time you open your mouth to deliver the lines.

Improv: In some instances, you will find that with movie auditions, certain directors are open to your own interpretation. So, if you add a few words, skip out on some words, and throw in your own interjections, you can really add to a particular character and to a script. Of course you want to find out with the director if you can improvise where necessary, but if so, it is really going to help you in playing the part that you are auditioning for when you are trying to get the movie role you are auditioning for.

Connect with the role: If you do not sell that you are the character, you are not going to be in the final running for the part you are auditioning for. So, you have to not only speak the lines, and feel the emotions, you also have to dress the part .If you are auditioning for a role as a college professor, yet come in dressed in street clothes, you are likely going to be turned down for the role. So, you have to know the role you are auditioning for, and you have to connect with that character from head to toe. So, every word you speak, your mannerisms, and the way you dress, are all things you have to work on, in order to ensure you are going to be able to convey the character in the manner the directors see fit when you are auditioning for that particular role.

Movie auditions can be trying, and you have to be prepared for the role that you are going in for. You do have to be prepared, and you have to know your role well when you go in for the audition. If you consider these factors, and if you really take th time to learn what you are going to be playing, you are not only going to sell the role, you are also going to be one of the top contenders when you are competing against a few different actors for the same spot.
